FOR THE PERSON WHO HAS TO EXPLAIN THE DELAY

Which supplier delivery dates moved again?

For buyers preparing a supplier follow-up: compare saved Excel or CSV reports, see each order line’s observed date changes, and export the source rows behind them.

Use my saved reports

Bring the reports you already keep. If your files or workflow need something different, tell us—those requests help shape what we build next.

START WITH THE REPORTS YOU ALREADY HAVE

Let's untangle the dates.

Files stay in this browser. Use reports for the same order population. Keep the report date separate from its delivery dates.

Examples are free to repeat. Your files: 5 successful reviews per browser per day.

Bring2–3 dated CSV, TSV or XLSX snapshots in the free version; up to 20 in the offline edition. One selected worksheet per file.
MatchExplicit stable order-line identity; distinct report dates. Duplicate identities stop the comparison.

A SMALL TOOL WITH A VERY SPECIFIC JOB

The weekly report changes.
Your record shouldn't disappear.

Date Trail compares retained snapshots by a stable order-line identity. It lists observed changes, net movement in calendar days, and the file and row behind each comparison.

Read the method and worked example
  1. Bring at least two saved reports.

Export the same population each time. XLSX users can select a worksheet; each selected file represents one dated snapshot.

  2. Confirm the dates and matching columns.

Choose a stable order ID plus line or shipment ID where needed. Duplicate identities stop the comparison instead of guessing.

  3. Review the trail, then take it with you.

Download the summary and source-linked change log for your next follow-up. Absent reports and blank ETAs remain visible.

YOUR WORKFLOW COMES FIRST

What would make
your next Friday easier?

Different columns? Split shipments? A report your manager keeps asking for? Tell us what you are trying to get done. Specific examples help us choose useful improvements.

Custom workflow requests are welcome. We review them before discussing scope; nothing here signs you up for a service.

A few things worth knowing

How can I track supplier delivery date changes in Excel reports?

Keep a dated copy of each report instead of overwriting it. In Date Trail, load at least two snapshots, map a stable order-line identity and the planned delivery date, then review the observed changes and their source rows. A single latest file cannot reconstruct earlier dates. Follow the three-report worked example.

Does this tell me whether a supplier delivered on time?

No. It compares planned ETAs in saved reports. Actual delivery performance requires actual receipts and an agreed baseline, which this tool does not establish.

Can it recover changes between weekly snapshots?

No. A date may change more than once between saved reports. The count is observed transitions, not the total number of edits. A missing report interval is marked rather than filled in.

Can I use Excel files with different column names?

Yes. Select the worksheet and map the identity and ETA columns for each report. Headers must be in the first row. Dates can be ISO, day/month/year or month/day/year, selected explicitly. Excel formulas are not recalculated; export confirmed values first.

How does this differ from a procurement platform?

This is a retrospective review of files you already saved. It does not contact suppliers, update an ERP, track live shipments or replace an existing change-history system. If your current system already gives you this trail, use that.

Where do my files and feedback go?

Report contents are processed locally and are not uploaded. Feedback is sent to our server only when you submit it, and can be read by the site owner. Anonymous usage events contain no filenames, dates, IDs or file contents. Privacy details.
